Should I go to Hajj first or pay off my debt?

A person is required to perform Hajj but also owes religious dues and cannot fulfill (i.e. afford to pay for) both of them at once; should he/she fulfill the Hajj first or the religious obligations?

In this case it would be necessary to check with the religious authority/jurist (marja’) or his representative to get permission to delay payment of religious dues. If the religious authority/jurist (marja’) or his representative finds that the person is serious about paying the religious dues upon first opportunity (and he authorizes it), then that person should perform Hajj.
