There are many social circumstances that make it challenging for a Muslim to adhere to their faith, even when they are not doing something that is expressly forbidden.
It is a common practice in the West for high school students to attend prom at the end of their junior and senior years and many Muslim youth wonder whether it is Islamically permissible to attend this type of function if they do not engage in the prohibited acts (e.g., dancing) that are taking place.
