IMAM celebrated the birth anniversary of Imam Ali ibn Abi Talib (p) on Saturday, March 23rd, 2019, at its HQ in Dearborn, MI. The ladies-only event was attended by over 300 members of the community.

In his keynote address to the gathering, Sayyid M. B. Kashmiri discussed three important points that can be taken from the life of Imam Ali (p) as examples and used to educate our children and strengthen their faith.

1.  Give meaningful names to newborns – A good name can play an important role in preserving a person’s religious identity and building a good personality. It is highly important to keep Islamic names and give names to our newborns from the Quran and the names of Prophets and Imams (p).

2. Teach our children to follow role models such as Imam Ali (p) – If we do not teach our children the history and biography of our prophets and infallible Imams then they will follow another role models.

3. Revive spirituality at an early age – Many parents think it is too early for kids to practice their faith, while, in fact, it is highly recommended in Islam. At an early age, souls are thirsty four spiritual nourishment and need to be replenished with the love of God. If we disregard this need, then they will look elsewhere. Parents need to be attentive to their children, to what they do, who they listen to, and be there for them when they need them. Otherwise, who will they rely on?
