Grand Ayatullah al-Sistani Receives UN Special Representative for Iraq
Najaf, Iraq – His Eminence, Grand Ayatullah Sayyid Ali al-Sistani (may God prolong his life) received Mr. Jan Kubis the special representative of the U.N. Secretary General for Iraq, on the close of his duties.
Sayyid al-Sayyid al-Sistani said in the meeting that the new government has great tasks, and that he is waiting to see the success of its work, especially with respect to combating corruption, providing job opportunities for the unemployed, reconstruction of the war-affected areas, restoring the displaced persons to their areas of residence in a suitable manner, and providing the necessary services to citizens appropriately.
His Eminence went on to emphasize the importance of cooperation between the political blocs in the parliament with the government to take earnest strides in improving the situation. He also stressed the importance of respecting Iraq’s sovereignty and non-interference in its affairs by all countries of the world.
