After almost 20 years since its inception, IABAT (Islamic Ahlul Bayt Association of Triangle) has now found a permanent home in Durham, NC. The community, along with the resident scholars, were present at the groundbreaking ceremony for the center, that took place on April 21, 2019. Sayyid M.B. Kashmiri, director of religious affairs at IMAM, joined the gathering at the future construction site for the center.

As the keynote speaker, Sayyid Kashmiri congratulated the community on the birth anniversary of Imam Mahdi (p) and the groundbreaking ceremony. During his address, Sayyid Kashmiri underscored the importance of building centers, schools and mosques across the country to ensure a prominent Muslim presence in the region. He added that without entities, such as centers and schools, the future generations will no longer have proof of their Muslim identity. He concluded his speech with an advice from Grand Ayatullah Sayyid Sistani, which states that it is imperative for us to maintain our religious identity and be an exemplary community member, who is not only faithful to their religion but to also the society, at large.
