International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People, we recognize the struggles faced by the Palestinian people and reaffirm our commitment to justice and peace. Observed annually by the United Nations on November 29, this day highlights the need for humanitarian action and the protection of Palestinians’ fundamental rights, as affirmed by various UN resolutions. The ongoing occupation and relentless violence in the region only increase resentment and suffering, demonstrating that peace cannot be achieved through force. A just, lasting peace requires an end to the occupation, the return of Palestinian lands to their rightful owners, and the recognition of their right to self-determination, as emphasized in numerous UN resolutions.

In alignment with UN resolutions, such as Resolution 242 (1967), which calls for the withdrawal of Israeli armed forces from the territories occupied in the 1967 conflict, we affirm that peace in Palestine requires the end of the occupation and the return of Palestinian lands. The resolution also emphasizes the need for secure and recognized boundaries for all states in the region, underlining the urgency of a peaceful solution that respects the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination.

Islamic teachings guide us to stand with the oppressed. As the Holy Quran states,‏“We have certainly sent Our messengers with clear proofs and revealed with them the Scripture and the balance that the people may uphold justice” (57:25). This verse highlights that one of the main objectives of the Prophet’s mission was to establish justice in society and direct people toward fairness and equity.

Moreover, the Quran explicitly commands justice, “Indeed, Allah commands justice and the doing of good” (16:90). The Quran also urges Muslims to support the oppressed, “And why should you not fight in the cause of Allah and for the oppressed among men, women, and children” (4:75)? These verses underscore the Islamic duty to fight against injustice and support the vulnerable in society.

Imam Ali (p) further emphasizes,“Be an opponent to the oppressor and an aid to the oppressed.” These principles compel us to support those in need and advocate for peace and dignity through lawful and compassionate efforts.

His Eminence Ayatollah Sayyid Ali al-Sistani has also voiced his concerns regarding the ongoing crisis, especially the significant harm inflicted upon civilians, including women and children, during recent military operations. Ayatollah Sistani calls for an immediate ceasefire and stresses the importance of providing humanitarian aid and rebuilding essential infrastructure such as hospitals, schools, and homes, ensuring the safety and well-being of all affected. For more of Ayatollah Sistani’s compassionate guidance on this matter, please refer to His Eminence official statements on 25th of the Rabi al-Awwal /1445 A.H  – 10/11/2023 and 5 Safar 1446 AH/10 August 2024.

As Palestine holds profound spiritual significance for Muslims, Christians, and Jews alike, we advocate for peace in this sacred land—a peace that respects its sanctity and brings an end to the bloodshed that has plagued it.

This day of solidarity calls us to renew our commitment to justice, mercy, and peace. With God’s guidance, may we contribute meaningfully to a world where every individual lives with security, respect, and the opportunity to thrive.
