On Monday April 8, 2019, Shaykh Dr. Mehdi Hazari was invited to be the keynote speaker at a symposium organized by the Ahlul-Bayt Student Association (ABSA) at Rutgers University. The symposium, titled “Human Rights: Delusion or Reality”, was attended by students of all backgrounds, and other members of the university and local community.

Dr. Hazari briefly spoke about the history of human rights, Islam’s perspective on the worth of each person, and the responsibility on all of us to be aware of the plights of others and constantly act to improve the society in which we live.

Sayyid M. B. al-Kashmiri also attended the event, in addition to discussing important current issues with some of ABSA’s executive board, he provided recommendations for effective outreach, reassured the students of IMAM’s continued support of their efforts, and also encouraged the fostering of productive collaborations.
