Sayyid M.B. Kashmiri addresses the community at the IABAT center in Durham, NC

On March 18, 2017, the 20th of Jamadi al-Thani 1438 A.H., Sayyid M.B. Kashmiri, the Chairman of I.M.A.M and representative of Ayatullah Sayyid al-Sistani in North America, was invited to the Islamic Ahul Bayt Association of Triangle (IABAT) center in Durham, North Carolina.  The center, through the assistance and guidance of I.M.A.M, established a new board of directors and new organizational bylaws. These efforts, by the Grace of the Almighty, aspire to bring new blessings to the Durham community.

Sayyid Kashmiri began the program by congratulating the newly formed board on the auspicious occasion of the birth of our Lady of light, Sayyida Fatimah al-Zahra (p), and the spiritual effect a name has on an individual.  He further elaborated that Sayyida Fatimah (p) was given nine names which are, Fatima, Siddiqah (the honest), Al-Mubarakah (the blessed one), At-Tahirah (virtuous), Az-Zakiyah (the chaste), Ar-Radhiatul Mardhiah (she who is gratified and who shall be satisfied), Al-Muhaddathah (a person, other than a prophet, that the angels speak to), and Az-Zahra (the splendid).

Sayyid elaborated that manners, within families, are uniquely tied and dependent on the names we are given.  He concluded by noting that names forge our very identities as good citizens and Believers (mu’mineen).
