If someone is physically disabled, sick, or injured, and it is difficult for them to remove their shoes, can they perform their salat while wearing shoes? Can they perform their salat while wearing shoes and sitting on a chair?
During prostration (sujud) in salat, there are seven parts that must be placed on the ground among which are the big toes, thus, it is not permissible since wearing shoes creates a thick barrier between the toes and the ground. However, it is permissible if someone is sick, and taking off the shoes puts them under hardship. Moreover, a person must be mindful that for wudhu they must wipe their feet which requires taking the shoes off, and if one is not able to do so for a valid reason such as sickness, they must perform dry ablution (tayammum).
