What is the right time in the afternoon when one can resume eating on the day of Ashura after observing the fast?
To remember Imam Hussain’s thirst, it is recommended to abstain from eating and drinking until afternoon, approximately 2:00 pm or so. Sources indicate that Imam Hussain (p) and his remaining companions had the opportunity to perform dhuhr prayer but do not indicate if the time and/or enemies gave them an opportunity to perform asr prayer. It was afternoon when the ladies and children got the opportunity to drink some water after three days of thirst.
