On Tuesday July 10, 2018, IMAM’s Board of Directors hosted His Eminence Ayatullah Sayyid Moneer al-Khabbaz during their monthly meeting at the headquarter offices in Dearborn, Michigan.

Sayyid al-Khabbaz is one of the top students of Grand Ayatullah Sayyid al-Sistani and an esteemed scholar worldwide. In addition, His Eminence is a religious authority in the Islamic Seminary and a teacher of jurisprudence at the advanced level of Bahth al-kharij.

The meeting, which was held to discuss important religious matters and address the fulfillment of Grand Ayatullah al-Sistani’s directives, was also attended by honorable Sayyid Muhammad Rizvi who is the General Secretary of the Council of Shia Muslim Scholars of North America.

High-ranking officials/scholars from the office of Grand Ayatullah al-Sistani periodically visit IMAM to hold private advisory meetings. As such, Sayyid al-Khabbaz graciously met with the Board of Directors to hear about the general state of Shia Muslims in North America, discuss ongoing issues and challenges, and find ways to bolster and better serve Shia Muslims worldwide, in particular in the United States and Canada.

IMAM’s Board of Directors provided Sayyid al-Khabbaz with an update of the organization’s comprehensive religious, educational, and financial services, as well as other social initiatives, especially several key achievements over the last year, to assist and support the Shia Muslim community.

Sayyid al-Khabbaz commended IMAM on its long-standing efforts and sincere dedication in serving Shia Muslims in North America, which His Eminence remarked was notably echoed by community members during his visits to different states. In his closing remarks, Sayyid al-Khabbaz stated that he would convey the important details of the discussions between himself and IMAM, as well as the strongly mutual goal and approach of supporting Shia Muslims with the Marja’s office in Najaf.
