Community members from the American Islamic Center of Florida (AICF) pose for a group photo with I.M.A.M. Vice Chairman, Sayyid M.B. Kashmiri

On Saturday, December 10, 2016, Sayyid M.B. Kashmiri visited the American Islamic Center of Florida, Pompano Beach (AICF).  The main topics of the program were on Muslim youth, their future in the West, Islamophobia, and the challenges we face as a Muslim community. Sayyid Kashmiri first led congregational prayers after which he awarded plaques to the youth speakers who spoke on Islamophobia earlier in the evening.

In his own lecture, Sayyid Kashmiri discussed at length the issue of how Islam is being falsely associated with terrorism and extremism. He went on to note that as a Muslim community, we must convey that our religion is one of peace and tolerance. He also stressed unity and how we all share one religion from one God, but have different views through different prophets.

Sayyid Kashmiri encouraged the youth to take more interest in the field of Media Studies, particularly due to the importance of and significant impact of public opinion. He requested of everyone to participate in introducing Islamic values by involving neighbors and colleagues to know more about Islam and Muslims.  The evening concluded with a question and answer session.
