Ayatullah Sistani Fatwa Concerning ISIS attack in Iraq

In the Name of Allah the Beneficent the Merciful

The religious supreme authority is anxiously observing the latest security reports in Nineveh province [in Iraq] and its nearby cities.

[The religious authority] emphasizes the need for the Iraqi government and the other political leaders in the country to unite and strengthen their efforts in order to stand up against the terrorists, and provide protection to the citizens from brutality. [The religious authority] confirms its backing and support of its dear believers in the armed forces and urges them to be patient and firm in the face of the aggressors. May Allah have mercy on the righteous martyrs and give the wounded ones a speedy recovery, Allah is the one who listens and answers.
