Sunday, October 25, 2026, is the 13th of Jumada al-Ula, which marks the martyrdom anniversary of Sayyida Fatimah al-Zahra (p) according to the second narration.

The Beauty of Sincere Worship

There are moments in life when we turn to God with everything we have, praying for relief, seeking answers, and hoping for our circumstances to change. Yet sometimes, despite our prayers and efforts, things do not unfold as we had hoped. On the anniversary of the martyrdom of Lady Fatimah al-Zahra (p), we reflect on a beautiful teaching from her that reminds us of the power of sincere worship and the wisdom behind God’s response to our devotion.

Lady Fatimah al-Zahra (p) is reported to have said, “One who ascends to God his sincere worship, God will descend upon him [what is in] his best interest” [Al-Majlisi, Bihar al-Anwar, vol. 68, p. 184].

A Heart That Worships with Sincerity

In these few words, Lady Fatimah (p) teaches us that the true value of worship lies not simply in what we do, but in the sincerity with which we do it. We may pray, fast, give charity, and perform countless good deeds, but what gives these actions their spiritual meaning is the intention behind them. Sincere worship means turning to God out of love, gratitude, and devotion, rather than seeking recognition or praise from others.

Lady Fatimah (p) also reminds us that sincere devotion is never wasted. When we offer our worship to God with a pure heart, we entrust ourselves to His wisdom and mercy. But there is something especially beautiful about the second part of this narration: God grants us what is in our best interest, not necessarily what we think is best for us.

Sometimes, we ask God for something that does not come. Sometimes, the answer arrives differently than we imagined. And sometimes, the greatest blessing is one we do not immediately recognize. This hadith invites us to trust that God knows what our hearts need, even when we cannot understand the path before us.

As we remember Lady Fatimah (p), whose life was marked by extraordinary devotion, sacrifice, and faith, let us reflect on the sincerity of our own worship.
