We are thrilled to announce that on June 13 and 14, a certified Mental Health First Aid course was successfully offered to our community. This achievement represents a major milestone for each participant and marks a significant step forward in building a more supportive and well-informed environment for everyone.

This impactful initiative was made possible through a close collaboration between I.M.A.M. Michigan and the Islamic House of Wisdom in Dearborn Heights. The eight-hour session was facilitated by Sayyid Sameer Ali, a certified Mental Health First Aid Instructor and Faith-Based Counselor. Under his guidance, community leaders learned essential skills to recognize early warning signs of distress, prevent potential crises, and raise awareness about mental wellness.

The training program met rigorous national standards and was fully certified by the National Council for Mental Wellbeing. It also included the specialized Youth Segment of the standard course, which ensures our leaders are uniquely equipped to support young people facing psychological challenges. With their new certifications, our members can now respond effectively to mental health crises, offer immediate first-line support, and connect individuals with professional care and resources. Islamically integrated psychology was key in culturally competent education.

Investing in this type of mental health training strengthens our community’s safety net and enhances our collective ability to advocate for those in need. We extend our sincere gratitude to the Islamic House of Wisdom for their dedicated commitment to promoting mental health awareness and support. Together, we are making a meaningful difference and building a movement rooted in empathy, understanding, and compassion.
