Empowering Our Community: 11 Certified as Youth Mental Health First Aiders

We are pleased to announce that on Saturday, May 2nd, eleven dedicated community members successfully completed their training and are now certified as Youth Mental Health First Aiders. This achievement is a significant milestone for each participant and shows a big step toward a more supportive, informed community.
The collaboration between I.M.A.M Michigan and Zainabia Center played a crucial role in this initiative. Sayyid Sameer Ali, a certified Mental Health First Instructor and Faith-Based Counselor, facilitated an eight-hour session that equipped community leaders with essential tools to prevent crises and enhance awareness. With their newly acquired skills, our certified members can recognize and respond effectively to mental health crises, providing vital support and facilitating access to appropriate resources. The course was certified by the National Council for Mental Wellbeing and included the Youth Segment of the standard and certified Mental Health First Aid Training program.
This investment in mental health training fortifies our community’s networks and enhances our collective capacity for advocacy. We extend our sincere appreciation to the Zainabia Center for its commitment to promoting mental health awareness and support. Together, we are effecting change and fostering a movement toward understanding and compassion within our communities.
