My family do not follow any marja while I follow Sayyid Sistani. What should I do if they celebrate Eid al-Fitr on a different day than me? Is it permissible for me to fast secretly or should I follow them and celebrate Eid according to them?
It is not permissible for you to break your fast if the crescent of Shawwal has not been sighted in your area or those that share the same horizon. However, you may travel the distance of at least 22.5 kilometers outside of the city limit and break your fast there.
