I.M.A.M. at FILBo 2026: A Journey of Spiritual and Cultural Exchange
The 2026 International Book Fair of Bogotá (FILBo), one of the largest and most important cultural events in Latin America, became a remarkable space for dialogue, learning, and human connection through I.M.A.M.’s participation at the fair. Over the course of fourteen days, the I.M.A.M. booth welcomed visitors from all walks of life and backgrounds, creating an atmosphere filled with meaningful conversations, spiritual reflection, and cultural exchange.
Visitors included students, professors, journalists, artists, priests, nuns, theologians, indigenous leaders, diplomats, converts, and seekers from diverse religious and intellectual traditions. Many came with curiosity about Islam, while others were deeply moved by the universal values presented through I.M.A.M.’s publications and conversations. Discussions ranged from spirituality, mysticism, and the afterlife to ethics, family, social justice, and the lives of the Prophets and Ahl al-Bayt (p).
One of the most impactful aspects of the fair was the strong interfaith engagement that naturally developed throughout the event. Catholic priests, Anglican bishops, Lutheran leaders, and even atheists participated in sincere and respectful dialogue with the team. Many visitors expressed surprise and admiration upon learning about Islam’s reverence for Prophet Jesus (p) and Lady Mary (p), especially through the Spanish publication Emisarios de Dios: La vida de Jesús.
The atmosphere at the stand was not merely academic; it was deeply human. Numerous visitors were emotionally moved by passages from works such as La Lucha Interior. Some were brought to tears while reflecting on themes such as the afterlife, inner struggle, morality, and humanity’s relationship with God.
Beyond book sales and outreach, FILBo 2026 demonstrated the growing interest in thoughtful spiritual dialogue and meaningful engagement in Latin America. Throughout the fair, visitors repeatedly expressed appreciation for the openness, warmth, and intellectual depth of the conversations shared at the I.M.A.M. stand.
I.M.A.M.’s participation at FILBo 2026 ultimately became far more than a literary exhibition. It was a living example of how faith, knowledge, character, and sincere dialogue can build bridges between cultures and hearts. The experience was deeply enriching, intellectual, emotional, and profoundly hopeful for the future of Islamic outreach in the Spanish-speaking world.
Inshallah, this marks the beginning of a long-lasting tradition from which many beautiful opportunities and meaningful connections will continue to emerge for years to come.
